Tendo Systems Calibration or temperature sensors

We provide all the Environmental Monitoring services you need. Installation, maintenance and annual calibration of temperature sensors. Whether you need a complete new system, just an additional sensor, or an annual calibration - we have it covered.

On-site Calibration of Temperature Sensors

While it is possible to send your sensors to our partner UKAS Calibration Lab, we can visit your premises and carry out a reference calibration. This minimises/eliminates sensor downtime and ensures your measurement points are always covered. On-site calibration can normally be carried out within a day, depending on the number of sensors and the number of temperature set-points. We will provide the necessary documentation to prove the accuracy of your sensors, and our test equipment. Any sensors which are outside the specified tolerances will be replaced or sent for recalibration as required. This service is only available in Northern Ireland but we can put you in contact with one of our partners if you are outside NI.

Maintenance during Calibration

As part of our visit we will carry out a full health-check of your temperature monitoring system, including;

  • Check and replace sensor batteries, as required.
  • Update software and check system logs
  • Test Email / SMS alerts
  • Backup your system configuration
  • Help you with any user training.

In addition, if you require an additional sensors or need sensors relocated, this can be done during our site visit.

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

GMP is a system for ensuring that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards. GMP is in place to minimise the risks involved in any pharmaceutical production. If required, we can supply IQ, OQ and PQ documentation as part of our installation and service offering.

  • Installation Qualification (IQ)
  • Operational Qualification (OQ)
  • Performance Qualification (PQ)

The D3 and IceSpy monitoring systems we supply and install are designed to be compliant with stringent industry standards including;

FDA 21 CFR Part 11
UKAS ISO 17025
Calibration available from factory

Calibration FAQ

How often do we need to calibrate temperature sensors?

Manufacturers of sensors will have a recommended re-calibration period. For the temperature and humidity probes we supply, we recommend that you calibrate temperature sensors annually.

However, depending on your industry, more frequent calibration may be necessary. It is advised to consult your QA Auditor or Technical Management department.

  • If the probe is damaged, dropped or is generally mishandled then a calibration to check performance should be completed.
  • Periodic checking of the probe against a known source to check performance should also be completed.
  • If you have any concerns over performance of the probe then calibration should be carried out.
What is an acceptable deviation?

The acceptable deviation of a temperature or humidity probe will depend on your specific application requirement. Legislation varies between industries/sectors. You should contact your regulatory body e.g. MHRA for Pharma, Food Standards Agency for Food Production. Often your customers, especially the larger Retail chains can have their own calibration regulations.

We are commonly asked by customers for temperature probes that are accurate to within ±0.5°C. This implies that if you have an area that is at 5°C then your happy with a temperature probe reading of between 4.5°C and 5.5°C. If you have specific calibration requirements, e.g. calibration to several temperatures, we can adjust our standard procedures to meet your needs.

What is temperature sensor calibration?

Temperature sensor calibration provides confidence that the temperature displayed on devices is reflective of actual temperatures in the areas being monitored. It is an essential process for environments storing temperature sensitive goods. Calibration has always been common place in medical facilities and pharmaceutical storage but has become a requirement in a variety of applications across food production, storage and retail industries.
